Thai Ambassador Visited Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery

Her Excellency Makawadee Sumitmor, Ambassador of The Royal Thai Embassy of Thailand to Bangladesh visited Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery & Welfare Complex on 18th September 2022, Sunday. For this purpose, Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery organized a felicitating ceremony on her auspicious visit to our monastery. The whole ceremony was presided over by the most venerable Dr. Sanghapriya Mahathero, Founder & Principal of Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery & Welfare Complex; Secretary General of The Supreme Sangha Council of Bangladesh.

As guests Mr. Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, Honorary Consul of Thailand to Chattogram; Mr. Panom Thomprayun, Minister Counsellor of The Royal Thai Embassy; Mr. Panupon Chotirangsiakun, Counsellor of The Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka; Mr. Siwapol Kittiwongsakool, First Secretary of The Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka; Ms. Busara Sadaengrit, Second Secretary of The Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka; Mr. Md. Atikul Mamun, Upazila Execute Officer of Patiya; Md. Ayub Babul, Mayor Patiya Municipality; Md. Rasedul Islam, Officer in Incharge of Patiya Thana; Rupal Kumar Sen, Commissioner of Sucrakadondi, word-02, and many lay Buddhists were present in this auspicious ceremony.

The Whole ceremony was conducted by Buddha Shabak Bhikkhu . Her Excellency visited our monastery because The Royal Thai Embassy donated and painted our monastery indoors and outdoors. Mr. Sujit Kumar Barua gave the welcome speech and translated the English and Bengali honorable Chair’s speech and Her Excellency Makawade Sumitmor’s speech.

On behalf of Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery & Welfare Complex, we gave honor and felicitation with flowers, sash, crest, and a little gift to her excellency Makawadee Sumitmor. In the beginning, venerable Anandapriya Bhikkhu chanted Holy Tripitaka. And also, the students of Nalanda Religious Education Centre recited Mangala Sutta as the inauguration song.

Every human being has the hand of some great person behind growing up. Similarly, the contribution of Buddha Shabak Bhikkhu’s (certificate & passport name: Bhuddha Shabak Sramon) maternal uncle revered late Priyashil Mahathero (Prominent Buddhist Monk) is very memerable in the struggle for the life of him. He was born in the traditional village of Kalauzan under Lohagara upazila, Chattogram, Bangladesh. His parents are Sunil Kanti Barua & Suva Rani Barua. When his father passed away at the age of 10, there was none to take the helm of his family. Then his revered maternal uncle brought him to Hasimpur Sunandaram Bihar (Buddhist Monastery) and admitted him to the school. After passing class 5, his revered uncle brought him to his own monastery. From there, with his uncle's indomitable inspiration, a new chapter in his educational life began and his uncle took his educational life forward with absolute compassion.He continued his education in many struggles. He took ordination on 16 July 2012 from most Venerable Basumitra Mahathero inspired by his revered uncle Priyashil Mahathero. He completed his Secondary & Intermediate education from Gachbaria N. G. Model High School & Gachbaria Government College. He received his Graduation and Post-graduation in English literature from the renowned university BGC Trust University Bangladesh. Now he is the president of the Buddhist Monk Student’s Association of Bangladesh; Secretary General & Chief Resident of Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery & Welfare Complex; General Member of Sangharaj Purnachar Bhikkhu Sangsad (Association); Executive Member of Pravati and Assistant Information & Technology Secretary of Bangladesh Sangharaj Bhikkhu Mahasabha (The Supreme Sangha Council of Bangladesh).
