Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony Observed in Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery (2022)

Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery & Welfare Complex completed Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony with religious solemnity and blissfully on 11th October 2022, Tuesday at Monastery’s premises.
In the afternoon of the second phase, at 1.45 pm, Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony started with a huge magnificent, and splendid appearance and religious solemnity. His Holiness 13th Sangharaj most venerable Dr. Janashree Mahathero was present as a felicitated person and he was honored with a crest and delivered blessing words. Those who passed the SSC HSC and Masters examination with A+ and first class were felicitated with a crest. At this auspicious ceremony, those who had the highest attendance at Nalanda Religious Education Center were their mothers, and they were felicitated with crests as first, second, and third.
The main attraction of this ceremony was that Dhammakaya Foundation, Thailand offered Kathina Robe. Buddhist laities and all Buddhist monks eagerly were waiting when honorable guest Ven. Phra Psaman Tha will come. At last, he came and offered Kathina Robe and donation on behalf of the Dhammakaya Foundation, Thailand, and delivered a blessing speech that touched every heart of lay Buddhists and monks. Ven. Dr. Sumanpriya Bhikkhu Thero translated his blessing speech from English into Bengali. We also honored him with a floral wreath and crest.
Thanks a million and gratitude to the most venerable Phra Shasanakirti H Mahipal Tharo for his kind-hearted and managed all the necessities to come to Phra Saman.
The whole ceremony was presided over by Deputy Sangharaj Shritidar Dr. Shilananda Mahathero. Ven. Basumitra Mahathero gave an inaugural speech. Most Ven. Dr. Dharmakirti Mahathero was present as the chief Dhamma speaker along with Jinpriya Mahathero, Jinratan Mahathero, and Shilajyoti Mahathero. As special guests Motaherul Islam Chowdhory, Chairman of Patiya Upazila Parisad, Md. Ayub Babul, Mayor of Patiya Municipality, Engineer Rupak Kumar Sen, Panel Mayor of Patiya Municipality, and Mr. Atikul Mamun, Upazila Executive Officer of Patiya were present at this auspicious ceremony. The whole ceremony was conducted by my Dhamma Teacher Ven. Dr. Sanghapriya Mahathero, Secretary General of the Supreme Sangha Council of Bangladesh and Founder and Principal of Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery & Welfare Complex. At the beginning of the auspicious Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony Buddha Shabak Bhikkhu (me) chanted the holy verse from Tripitaka. At the end of the ceremony, the honorable chair gave an ending speech and shared merits, and declared the end of the Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony.
In the morning of the first phase, at 9.30 am lay Buddhists offered Sangha Dana to Bhikkhu-Sangha for their ancestors’ otherworldly peace. In Sanghadana, the whole program was presided over by the most venerable Shasanapriya Mahathero, Deputy Sangharaj of the Supreme Sangha Council of Bangladesh. As chief guest Ven. Shasamitra Mahathero, chief Dhamma speaker ven. Dr. Sumanpriya Thero, special guests Ven. Sharensen Mahathero, Ven. Binoy Rakshita Bhikkhu Mahathero, Dhamma speaker Ven. পরমানন্দ থের Paramananda Thero, Ven. Gyanajit Thero, Ven. সংঘরত্ন এম. প্রজ্ঞামিত্র থের and many Buddhist monks were present in the 1st phase auspicious ceremony. The whole Sanghadana was conducted by Ven. Shilapal Thero. The inaugural speech was delivered by Ven. Ratana Nanda Thero, Office Secretary of the Supreme Sangha Council of Bangladesh. In the beginning, Ven. Shraddhapriya Bhikkhu chanted the holy verse from Tripitaka.
About 140 Buddhist monks and novice monks attended the first and second phases of the auspicious Kathina Ceremony which made lay Buddhists another amusing and blessing moment. Many Buddhist people were present with Kathina Robe which was created as another religious environment around the ceremony premises.

Every human being has the hand of some great person behind growing up. Similarly, the contribution of Buddha Shabak Bhikkhu’s (certificate & passport name: Bhuddha Shabak Sramon) maternal uncle revered late Priyashil Mahathero (Prominent Buddhist Monk) is very memerable in the struggle for the life of him. He was born in the traditional village of Kalauzan under Lohagara upazila, Chattogram, Bangladesh. His parents are Sunil Kanti Barua & Suva Rani Barua. When his father passed away at the age of 10, there was none to take the helm of his family. Then his revered maternal uncle brought him to Hasimpur Sunandaram Bihar (Buddhist Monastery) and admitted him to the school. After passing class 5, his revered uncle brought him to his own monastery. From there, with his uncle's indomitable inspiration, a new chapter in his educational life began and his uncle took his educational life forward with absolute compassion.He continued his education in many struggles. He took ordination on 16 July 2012 from most Venerable Basumitra Mahathero inspired by his revered uncle Priyashil Mahathero. He completed his Secondary & Intermediate education from Gachbaria N. G. Model High School & Gachbaria Government College. He received his Graduation and Post-graduation in English literature from the renowned university BGC Trust University Bangladesh. Now he is the president of the Buddhist Monk Student’s Association of Bangladesh; Secretary General & Chief Resident of Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery & Welfare Complex; General Member of Sangharaj Purnachar Bhikkhu Sangsad (Association); Executive Member of Pravati and Assistant Information & Technology Secretary of Bangladesh Sangharaj Bhikkhu Mahasabha (The Supreme Sangha Council of Bangladesh).
