Historic Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony Observed

The historic Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony of Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery & Welfare Complex completed at night with the help of Lay Buddhists of Patiya and all the members of NALANDA on 12th November 2021, Friday with beautifully and religious solemnity.

Before starting the Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony, singer Jushi Barua sung Buddha Kirton with her melodious voice at 4.00 pm to 6pm. At 6.00 pm, the Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony started.

In this ceremony, Buddha Shabak Bhikkhu received the title "Thero" (after passing 10 years monastic life) and honoured with crest. And also some social welfare organization such as Gaocia Committee Bangladesh, Patiya Oxygen Bank, Karuna Foundation, Lab Technician of Patiya hospital Mr. Debashis Barua Saju and BCS Cadre in Health Dr. Didarul Alam Sujan received Sash and honouring crest for their social welfare and noble activities in the hard time of COVID-19.

Whole ceremony was presided over by Deputy Sangharaj (Patriarch) of the Supreme Sangha Council of Bangladesh most venerable Dr. Shilananda Mahathero. As inaugurator Ven. Prajnananda Mahathero, Chief Dhamma Speaker Dr. Dhammarakkita Mahathero, Thailand, Special guest Ven. Basumitra Mahathero and other monks were present. The whole programme conducted by most Ven. Dr. Sanghapriya Mahathero, Secretary General of the Supreme Sangha Council of Bangladesh, founder and principal of this monastery and Prof. Avijit Barua Manu.

Many lay Buddhists of different parts of Patiya and other area were participated in this auspicious ceremony with happily and eagerly. Because this was the first time in Bangladesh observed Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony at night.
