A short biography of Dr. Sanghapriya Mahathero

Dr. Sanghapriya Mahathero was born on 31/12/1965 at Shakpura Lalchand Bari in a middle class family in Boalkhali, Chattogram. His parents are Monindra Lal Barua and Snehabala Barua. In his domestic life his name was Bidhan Roy Barua. He is the youngest of seven siblings.

His preceptors (Upadhyaya Guru) are 10th Sangharaja Philosopher Jyotipal Mahathero and (Acharya Guru) 12th Sangharaja Dharmasen Mahathero. In his academic life, he has completed Honours and Master degree from Chattogram University and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from Nava Nalanda University, India.

After receiving his PhD from India, he came to his homeland according to the advice of well-wishers, he has redesigned a new look to the Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery and Welfare Complex and is the successful founding director of the institution. Apart from religious activities, various services and education projects are underway around the Patiya Central Buddhist Monastery and Welfare Complex, among which are the Nalanda Unpaid Education Project, Food and Uses Donation Project, Computer Education Project etc.

His articles have been published in many journals and periodicals in Bengali and English. He has written many religious Books also. He perticipated in many national, international seminars and conferences at home and abroad fruitfully. He has been working for the welfare of the state, society and religion in various important positions in many religious, social and state institutions of Bangladesh.

He has already traveled to many countries like America, Canada, Australia, Asia-Middle East and many European Union Countries. He has received many honours and awards from various organizations for pursuing higher degrees in education, religious and social service. These meritorious works were done by him from an invaluable resource of the monk society and the state.
